This years calendar seeks to balance peace and beauty with the destruction, decay and vandalism which seems so prevalent in this time. I realise that my fatalistic view on human kind and all it’s glaring foibles is not the most sellable commodity, however my desire to have this calendar reflect the time it marks endures. It just seems so logical that a document that marks time practically also attempts to mark that time allegorically with equal measures of hope and realism. As always the diaspora of the Scottish nation is reflected as poetically as I can manage. From the destruction of the reinforced concrete of Glasgow’s social housing to the pensive safety cattle seek in woodland. I am as always struggling to convey my love and reverence for the beauty of everything, whether it be aesthetic, conceptual or historical.
2026 ushers in another format, with a landscape orientation and an obscure panoramic aspect of my own ad hoc ratio… As always the calendar will come packaged and ready to gift in a presentation box with stories for each month written out and designed on to a bespoke vellum overlay, a postcard of one of my paintings will be included and I am glad to say that after my exhibition 200 hundred of these are out in circulation, so keen to keep that going. I now measure my social cache on how many postcards I can spaff into the world, I think it’s better than social media likes TBF YOLO.
As always i will try a new method of hand finishing the presentation box, so keep posted for whatever the hell that is going to be :)
Please share far and wide with friends and family. I did not manage to sell all the calendars last year and my profits were down largely to inflated costs in postage in every link of the chain. Since the calendar started in 2016 I make about 30% less, so please if you like it please tell someone you know about it, word of mouth really is the best form of promotion.
