RED CAR PARK 2 - CUMBERNAULD
The Town Centre from Red Carpark I. - all photos in this section Canon 90d - Zeiss Planar 50mm f1.7
The Pedestrian entrance to Red Carpark II - Highly degraded waffle slab ceiling, and mould drenched bricks, the pillars have moss growing on them, water absolutely piles into this area from above.
The mould is powerful here. Is this the absolute definition of DANK?
EskWalk - This tunnel runs the length of the remaining megastructure, it houses the Cornerstone Centre and Church. The down lighters here are super cool, this tunnel is very photogenic and would be awesome for some portraits of some hot goths.
There is a strange , trapezoidal subterranean level near the east end of the carpark. Strangely it had a front bumper and bonnet of a modern car abandoned in it. I wonder what on earth is behind that roller shutter, what I do know is that it’ll be damp in there. Hard to understand how these pieces of motor car got here and why they’ve been left, they are in good nick and probably worth over a grand.
Concrete stalactites, also called calthemite, form when water containing calcium hydroxide from the concrete reacts with carbon dioxide in the air, precipitating calcium carbonate. This gives you a good idea of how much water is flowing through here, this whole area has taken on the nature of a cave.
There is actually moss growing on these pillars. Look at the amazing job those pipes are doing of directing the water directly onto the structure, repeatedly; probably for decades.
Why this original elevated pedway has been retained I’m not sure, It’s not connected to Antonine shopping centre and seems to onlly serve as a structural element for some fire escapes. I did not venture into this service yard area though I had plenty of opportunity to do so. This area is called the Tryst Road.
From the design of the pillars I’m assuming that there was another level to this carpark at some stage. I reckon this area has been modified with the same hammed fisted incompetence that’s been applied to the rest of the place.
The interesting vertical brick setup that lines the walls of the Esk Walk. They seem to be branded O Y O.
The infamous penthouse stilt from the fire escape of William Hill.
This white wall around the demolition site of Fleming House has collapsed since my last visit, it has been reconstructed to rearrange the Grafitti in a cool wee jigsaw. The last time I was here ‘Tyler is a Slag’ was intact in another area, who ever wrote it first has returned to scrawl it over the wall for a second time, this also goes for the fist in the top left.
Sunset over Red Carpark I. The lampost arrangement and muddled grafitti makes this one a success.
MOBILE PHONE WALKTHROUGH VIDEO & SOME BONUS PHOTOS
This stair well is not well used , I met a couple of lads at the top of this a few years ago, they were friendly enough but I did not squeeze past them. It is a good place to get Jaked TBF.
The College
Charity shop interior… This shop is a hard browse, it’s all there but you have to go looking for it.
Hector Nicol - Hobo Sexual £4
A miraculous cornucopia of architectural incompetence. Yes; there are two roofs here.
